Arne Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Retains The Club's Backing Following PSV Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it was understandable for questions to be asked about his future after another convincing loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their ninth loss in twelve games, representing the team's poorest run after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie title holders on a difficult evening at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I've received significant backing from above,” the coach remarked.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and earn three points naturally but if you are coaching a team and struggling then it's typical that people question you.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my position. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with The Board

Upon being questioned to provide details on his discussions with the club's leadership, Slot explained:

“We talk a lot. They assist for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they don't phone me constantly of the day to say they back me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular discussions I feel the belief. But I've not talked to them after this defeat yet so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Issues and Squad Reaction

Slot expressed regret over familiar shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, namely poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his view of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to all,” Jones stated.

“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the words.”

He added, “It’s hard because I play for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a period like this with performances so bad.”

He finished, “But we still have that badge on our chest. And as long as it is gone, we'll continue to battle.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad back to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the greatest side in the world.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
