This winter transfer market proves to be a time of intense rumour and possible major moves. A number of prominent stars find themselves linked with moves out of their current teams. Here is a look at a selection of the key figures who might be on the move in January.

Antoine Semenyo

Although Ghana's failure to reach the AFCON, this has kept the forward in contention, reports suggest an important transfer is close. The Bournemouth attacker possesses a deal with a £65 million buy-out clause active for a short period at the start of the month. Recent reports suggest Manchester City look to have won the race for his signature. Former interested parties like Tottenham and Chelsea are said to have moved on to other targets, leaving teams such as Manchester United or Liverpool to attempt a late move.

Marc Guéhi

The English centre-back has continued to impress for Palace this season a previous transfer to Anfield collapsing. As his deal set to run out in the summer, this represents the club's final opportunity to secure a transfer fee for their captain. Numerous elite clubs, such as Manchester City and several continental powerhouses like Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, are believed to be interested. However, a January exit remains difficult, especially given the coach's reliance on the player.

B. Johnson

This Welsh forward has found starting opportunities limited at Tottenham this term. Rúben Neves

This Portuguese midfielder could be poised for a return to the Premier League following a spell in Saudi Arabia. Now only twenty-eight, and with his contract ending in the summer, he represents a possible bargain. Clubs like Manchester United and Liverpool have been connected to the former Wolves man. Additionally, there have been rumours from Spain that he is willing to accept a pay cut for a switch to the Spanish giants.

M. ter Stegen

This experienced Germany goalkeeper is now as the third option at Barcelona following the manager Hansi Flick. After fallen out of favour and undergone surgery, a January exit looks increasingly probable. Villa were initially linked as a potential destination, but that move now appears unlikely. Instead, interest from Saudi Arabia and Turkey are thought to be showing curiosity in the keeper.

I. Toney

This proven England centre-forward has continued finding the net regularly in Saudi Arabia. A return to the Premier League might enhance his dwindling hopes of being in the national squad. But, securing a deal poses significant hurdles. Al-Ahli do not wish to sell him, and his reported enormous weekly wages render any move difficult. Tottenham, Manchester United, and Everton are all mentioned as admirers.

Although starring and being named player of the tournament at the U21 Euros in the summer, the talented player has struggled for game time on loan at Aston Villa. The manager has confirmed the loan move won't become permanent. Because of FIFA regulations about playing for two clubs in a season, a return to his parent club prior to next summer appears to be the only viable solution.

Kenan Yildiz

The highly-rated Turkish forward has been in fine form for Juventus this season. As his existing contract nearing its end, a host of English sides – including Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham – are keeping tabs on the situation. Juventus are eager to secure the youngster to a lengthy agreement but are in a battle to retain one of the continent's brightest young talents.

Kees Smit

The highly-touted Dutch teenage midfielder has drawn parallels to Kevin De Bruyne for his style of play. After impressing at the Under-19 European Championship, he has become a regular in the AZ Alkmaar side. The 19-year-old is heavily tipped to complete a big-money move in January. Newcastle reportedly are frontrunners, but are facing stiff competition from Real Madrid for a deal priced at approximately twenty-two million pounds.
