Jurgen Klopp says rejoining to manage Liverpool is theoretically possible.
Jurgen Klopp, who left Liverpool in 2024, remarked that returning someday remains something that could happen. Klopp, following a hugely successful near-decade reign which brought continental glory and the Reds’ first league title since 1990, has since taken on roles overseeing worldwide football with the Red Bull group and as an advisor for the DFL.
Fan Sentiment and His Frank Comments
Liverpool won the Premier League under Arne Slot, yet numerous supporters who revere Klopp would be thrilled by the notion that he may eventually return. In a wide-ranging interview, he shared with his interviewer: “I stated I won't manage a different club on English soil. Therefore should it be the Reds...yes. In theory, it could happen.”
“Being 58, so I could make the decision later on, it's uncertain. Do I have to make the decision today? If so, I wouldn't return. Luckily, no such pressure exists. I can just see how things unfold.”
What Would Lure Him Back?
When asked about what circumstances would have to unfold to bring him back to management, Klopp admitted he was not instantly drawn toward coming back. “I don’t even know exactly, I enjoy my current role,” he stated. “I don’t miss coaching; I don’t miss standing during downpours for lengthy sessions; I don’t miss going to press conferences repeatedly each week or having 10-12 interviews weekly.
“I don’t miss the dressing room in that context, however, dining out with the team having a nice chat, is pleasant. We won a lot of games thus frequently great spirits around the place. I can still hear the captain's chuckle in my ear as an instance.”
Praise for His Successor
He commended of the current boss, crediting him due to the changes that won the league in the previous season. They've been defeated a string of losses in every contest following significant transfers, but he rubbished the idea it could be the start of a downward turn.
“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward such as Wirtz, you will all eat your words with negative comments. A remarkable prospect. Ekitike, superb talent. It’s a really good thoughtfully assembled roster. Fans shouldn't fret regarding the Reds, they'll bounce back.”
Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward
Klopp also spoke emotionally about the death of Diogo Jota, a 2020 acquisition in 2020, along with the consequences for the team. Jota died tragically in a vehicle collision alongside his brother this past summer.
“Who can fill the void of such an individual? It goes beyond the player himself, it’s the guy he was. It's hard to picture the dressing room missing him. I still cannot speak properly about it. A devastating blow for his teammates as well. No one within the club might employ it for poor performances but it is the situation. You walk in a dressing room where his spirit remains. Handling this emotionally is challenging. Overwhelming.”
