President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the loved ones of a Guard member fatally shot last week to attend the White House.

He added that he conversed with her parents and they were “heartbroken”.

Information on the Heartbreaking Event

US army specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a shooting on Wednesday in DC.

Her comrade, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in grave state.

Memorials across West Virginia have occurred in their honor.

Presidential Invitation

The commander-in-chief said he’s proposed a meeting at the presidential residence for the loved ones of both individuals of the state National Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a difficult moment, visit the White House. We’re going to honor her,” the president informed the press. “And similarly with Andrew, recover or not.”

Community Support

Attendees came together over the past few days at the high school in West Virginia to honor Beckstrom.

Both they had been working with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s national effort to aid public safety in the capital.

Remembering Beckstrom

“Sarah was the kind of student that instructors wished for. She behaved with quiet strength, a contagious smile and a optimistic attitude that lifted those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of Beckstrom’s alma mater, stated to the press. “She was caring, considerate and always ready to help others.”

Funeral plans for Sarah are still being arranged.

Legal Steps and Government Changes

Authorities have accused a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with a charge of homicide and charges of violent assault while armed.

The event caused the Trump administration to pause asylum processing and temporarily stop granting visas to holders of travel documents.

Condition of the Airman

Wolfe, a native of the city, started his military career in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, per the AP.

He continues to receive treatment and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia leader Patrick Morrisey mentioned on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

The state’s top lawyer the attorney general told a news show that she aimed to visit the family.

Impact of Sarah Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from her high school in June 2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a MP with excellence, according to the military.

“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had bravery,” the governor addressed the gathering at the memorial. “Though her time was cut short, she has made an impact that’s going to endure.”
