The Gory Animated Movie Conclusion That Haunts Viewers

Among every adult-oriented animated films I have personally viewed, no other has lingered in my mind quite like the dread-soaked conclusion of the explicitly bloody and highly provocative film from 2022 Unicorn Wars.

In the year 2015, the Spanish writer-director developed a grim, bleak and often savage universe with several minor , forlorn hints of hope.

While The Unicorn Wars appears as it originated from a drive to advance animation further, the filmmaker clarified that it was more an effort to communicate a global, cross-cultural message regarding “the mutual source of all wars.”

This theme is communicated by means of a group of colorful pastel bears , openly modeled after a well-known line of lovable characters.

Being raised in a society focused on warmongering and the defense industry, a lot of the bears are fixated on slaughtering the mythical beasts, because of a sacred text that claims them they used to be kings of the woods, until the unicorns expelled them.

A few have not completely fallen for the propaganda, , would rather experiment with narcotics or mate in the forest.

Unlike their cuddly counterparts, these colorful critters have visible sexual organs , obvious urges.

For one particularly cruel, cynical bear, Bluey, the war against the unicorns turns into a path to power — and especially to supremacy above his more tender, nicer brother Tubby.

Bluey acts as a tormentor and an obvious sociopath , and while fear overcomes his squad and takes his comrades individually, he seizes more and more influence on his own behalf, in increasingly violent, destructive ways.

Meanwhile, the horned creatures are enduring their own nightmare, in the form of a spreading, harmful creature in their woods.

“In the early stages, it seems like a humorous movie,” the director said. “However it becomes a more intense and sorrowful movie. And ultimately, it’s a horror film.”

The Unicorn Wars commences feeling a bit like one of the more whimsical films from a legendary animator, that uncover a wicked pleasure in allowing drawn beings swear, shoot each other, or have intimate relations.

Then it becomes closer to a bleaker film from that creator, including ever more explicit brutality and a noticeable connection to the real horror of conflict.

By the end, it’s a complete Grand Guignol bloodbath.

The fear which makes this an ideal spooky-season watch begins well before than that description suggests.

Unicorn Wars is suited for the hardcore lovers of violence, for enthusiasts of intense movies who desire to watch something they’ve never watched previously, and are able to withstand a narrative that pulls no restraint.

View it in a dimly lit space without any distractions, and the conclusion will burrow deep within you and take up residence there.
