The Mighty Nein's Opening Sequence Chose the Incorrect Critical Role Song
This latest animated series, the most recent animated series by Critical Role, unveiled an exciting opening credits. It features the beloved group of outcasts, outcasts, and criminals kicking ass and making their mark, while teasing at multiple heart-wrenching personal histories for characters including the voice actor's mage Caleb, and another actor's warlock orc, Fjord.
All in all, the opening looks stunning. However, I felt that something was missing in the song choice.
The intro employs "Welcome to the Continent", an exceptional song created by artist Colm McGuinness. This piece from the soundtrack album of the same name, the second one put out by the production company's music division their music brand. It's a great nostalgic option, and I believe that fans of the second campaign will appreciate its presence.
But for me, The Mighty Nein's opening doesn't quite capture the excitement and excitement that accompanied the show's actual-play adventure. "Your Turn to Roll", composed by musician the artist, became an immediate hit in my view when it was first revealed in that year, and it only got better when cast member Sam Riegel added lyrics to the tune for the animated Campaign 2 opening in 2018.
Featuring vocals from one actress, Laura Bailey, a co-star, as well as the writer, the track was catchy and enjoyable. Back then, I hadn't seen the follow-up series yet, but it was so infectious that I still saved it on my phone. It's a song that excites you before you dive into an episode of fantasy hijinks.
The show's intro with "Welcome to Wildemount" fails to hit the same chords for me. It's a grand composition, but from what I know of the group, I feel that its mood is a little off.
Naturally, the creators has already said that the series will have some changes and variations from the original live sessions. An adjusted mood for its intro seems to be one of them.
This animated adventure will be available to watch on Prime Video from November 19. For those eager until then, or wish to prepare to learn about the characters of the second series, the actual play are accessible on Spotify and the video site.
