Triple Most Valuable Player Jokic endures a 'devastating' leg setback.
Thrice-crowned National Basketball Association Most Valuable Player Jokic sustained a "gut-wrenching" knee injury as the Denver Nuggets lost 147-123 to the Heat.
The star player injured himself late in the first half in an unintentional collision with fellow Nugget Spencer Jones.
Jones landed on the footwear of the big man, who immediately went down to the court grabbing his knee.
The 30-year-old, who tops the NBA season in rebounds and dimes, had 21 points and eight assists in the matchup before sustaining the problem.
Jokic will undergo an MRI on Tuesday to assess the severity of the issue.
"Immediately, Jokic understood there was a problem," commented Nuggets head coach David Adelman.
"Injuries are part of the game. Whoever who is injured, it's difficult, most notably a player as special as him. We will know more tomorrow."
"We will continue together. Obviously, right now, I am focused primarily about Jokic as a person and the letdown of going through something of that nature."
